Inside the Role: An Interview with an eDiscovery Project Manager
Explore the work environment, qualifications, and benefits of working at Intellectual Data through an interview with an eDiscovery Project Manager.

Q1. What does a Project Manager do?
The role involves managing data and providing technical support throughout the litigation process in common-law jurisdictions, from collecting documents as evidence to producing them.
To understand the role, it helps to understand discovery, a procedure used in civil litigation in common-law jurisdictions. During discovery, parties exchange and review evidence in their possession to clarify the issues in dispute. Because most documents today are electronic, such as emails, instant messages, and PDFs, this process is known as electronic discovery, or eDiscovery.

Discover Boundless Possibilities!
At first, everything about eDiscovery was unfamiliar to me. Once I overcame my hesitation and started doing the work, it was less complicated than I had expected. I was able to develop my skills in big data and IT support while gaining experience working with clients and colleagues around the world.
Although eDiscovery is still a relatively unfamiliar field in Korea with a limited number of specialists, the global market continues to grow. I believe the eDiscovery industry offers an excellent opportunity to develop into a professional who works internationally.
If you enjoy new challenges and value teamwork, I encourage you to give it a try.
